Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Electromyography, and Sports Medicine
Dr. Aviles joined Downtown Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, a Division of Seaport Orthopaedic Associates, in July 1999. He is an expert in conservative management of orthopaedic injuries including musculoskeletal injuries of the neck and lower back as well as Occupational Medicine. He has experience in electrodiagnostic medicine including both EMG and Nerve Conduction Studies. His special interests in pain management include trigger point injection, sacroiliac and lumbar facet injection, epidurals and selective nerve root injection.
Dr. Aviles received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Emory University located in Atlanta, GA. His medical degree was earned at Univesidad Central del Caribe in Puerto Rico and performed a transitional year internship at New York University Hospital. His Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation training was performed at Center for Rehabilitation in Emory University Medical Center. This included rotation at Atlanta's VA and Sheppard Center, as well as several other hospitals through the Atlanta area.
Dr. Aviles is currently a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine of Rehabilitation, American Congress of Rehabilitation and the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation.
