Nelson G. Botwinick, M.D., F.A.C.S.Dr. Botwinick is Director of Hand Surgery at New York Downtown Hospital, as well as an active member of several committees at the institution. He chairs the Operating Room Committee. He is an elected officer of the Medical Board and chaired the Revenue Cycle Oversight Committee. He is actively involved with resident teaching at New York Downtown Hospital, and is the primary attending surgeon instructing the residents in the principals of Orthopaedics and hand surgery.
 
Dr. Botwinick serves as an advisor to multiple corporate entities in the Wall Street area, with regard to ergonomics, proper work station design, and prevention of workplace injury.
 
Dr. Botwinick holds faculty appointments at New York Downtown Hospital, the Hospital for Joint Diseases, and Tisch Hospital at New York University Medical Center. In addition, he holds appointments at the New York VA Hospital and Bellevue Hospital. Dr. Botwinick has an academic appointment at New York University School of Medicine in the Department of Orthopaedics.
 
Dr. Botwinick is an active member and fellow of both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. In addition, he is a member of the Eastern Orthopaedic Association and the New York Orthopaedic Society. He is also a member of the New York County Medical Society and the New York State Medical Society.
 
Dr. Botwinick is a graduate of Brown University and New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internship in general surgery at Bellevue Hospital and New York University and his orthopaedic surgical residency in the same institutions. He later went on to complete a Fellowship in Hand Surgery and Microsurgery at New York University and Bellevue Hospital. Dr. Botwinick is licensed to practice medicine in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. He is Board Certified in Orthopaedic surgery and hand surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Since 1998, he has been listed annually as one of the "Best Doctors" for hand surgery by New York Magazine. In addition, he is listed in Castle Connolly’s Guide to Top Doctors in the New York metro area.

Dr. Botwinick has a special interest in sports injuries, and has treated World Boxing Association Champion Luis Collazo, as well as members of the U.S. Olympic Team.

Dr. Botwinick is a senior partner and a founding member of Seaport Orthopaedic Associates. He is an expert in Orthopaedic surgery, specifically surgery of the upper extremity.
